| Rafting in Tokushima

Getting better at updating.
Here are a few pics from the trip to Tokushima-ken last week. We headed down on the Thursday for a few days of camping and outdoor fun! The weather was perfect, really we couldn't have asked for a better day! The highlight was rafting on the Yoshino river - the only un-damed (?) river in all of Japan! The water was great, as were the guides! If anyone is looking for a fun weekend be sure to checkout Happy Raft - highly recommended! And they let you camp for free! You'll have to wait a bit for rafting photos....have yet to develop the waterproof camera I took. Check back soon!
We also checked out the Iya valley, famous for its vine bridges. I was really regretting not changing into my hiking shoes when I saw the bridge! The gaps between the wood were HUGE! And if one broke, I'm still not convinced I wouldn't fall through! The vines are replaced every 3 years....I think they're due for a change any day now!
There was also this funny contraption -- you had to sit down and pull yourself across the river. Fun times! emma found her way @ 2:42 p.m.
